RITUAL 7pm - midnight/ 8pm performance An Evening of Ancestral Art, Music, and Cultural Storytelling- hosted by Adey Getachew — Kushite Mystic, Shaman, Zar Healer, and author of Life Stories of a Modern Kushite Mystic. Through ceremonial storytelling and performance, Adey guides audiences into the living rhythm and spirit of Zar, a sacred East African and Red Sea tradition carried through generations. This event presents the only Zar-inspired cultural arts performance currently being presented in the United States, offering a rare opportunity to witness this ancient spiritual heritage through music, movement, and ritual storytelling. Opening with traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, Adey will roast coffee in the ancient ceremonial style while sharing the story of the Zar drum and its ancestral journey across regions of Africa and the Middle East. VIP ceremonial seating option for first 8 ticket holders - offering an intimate close floor rug experience and personally served cup of freshly brewed Ethiopian coffee during the ceremony, honoring the deep communal traditions of hospitality and ritual. Following the ceremony, the space transforms into a powerful Zar dance performance, where the rhythms of the drum come alive. The performance features relaxing whimsical sound scapes, drummers from Iran, Egypt and many African Diaspora regions, accompanied by soul-opening guitar/vocalist a first generation Togolese, creating a cross-cultural soundscape of rhythm, spirit, and movement. The event takes place at Flavors From Afar, a venue dedicated to uplifting refugee chefs, immigrant voices, and global cultural storytelling. RITUAL aligns with this mission by honoring indigenous traditions and bringing greater visibility to ancestral healing practices. Following the performance, remain for a special time to sit together, sip, reflect, and commune - the Oracle space with Adey and the community. Offering an opportunity for conversation, connection, and reflection on the rhythms, stories, and spirit experienced during the evening. RITUAL is preservation. RITUAL is community. It is an artistic and cultural offering that bridges continents, preserves ancestral memory, and invites audiences into a rare encounter with the living rhythms of Zar — and the presence of a mystic.
