Come learn how to sew, make your own custom origami tote bag, and support a local nonprofit! 🪔🧵 In the first part of class, we’ll go over the basics of sewing; how to set up and use a sewing machine, understand the different settings, and feel comfortable sewing on your own. No experience needed! Then, you’ll create your very own reversible origami tote from start to finish. We will guide you through choosing fabrics, cutting, and constructing. This beginner-friendly project is a fun way to practice sewing, pressing seams, and learning techniques linings. With your RSVP, we will ask what colors/patterns fabric you are thinking about creating your bag with. Please answer generally (e.g. black, pastels, polka dots). While we cannot guarantee the fabric, we will try our best to have something of the vibe you are looking for! Half of the profits will be going to 826 Valencia, a nonprofit in the Mission that supports students under 18 through creative writing programs. Can’t wait to sew with you!
