Explore journaling as a way to feed your creativity through play and experimentation. In this one-hour workshop, I’ll guide you through short readings, writing prompts, and simple drawing and collage exercises designed to help you reflect on your relationship with creativity.
I often hear people say they wish they could journal but feel discouraged when they don’t keep it up daily. But journaling doesn’t need to be daily, obligatory, or pretty — instead, it can be a free and cozy home for your creativity, a place where you can practice making room for your inner voice so it can speak up more easily in the rest of your life.
All experience levels welcome. Ages 18+. $25, or pay what you can. Bring your own notebook of any kind. Come with friends or meet new ones here :)
About me: I’ve been a writer and editor for 15+ years and have journaled since I was six years old. My essays, journalism, and poetry have appeared in many places, including the Los Angeles Review of Books, Oprah Magazine, and the book This Long Thread: Women of Color on Craft, Community, and Connection by Jen Hewett, and I have a Master of Professional Writing (MPW) in creative nonfiction from USC. I began teaching journaling workshops after having a child and seeing creativity anew as a parent. I also write the newsletter Following the Thread, about motherhood and art, which you can find at miagabb.substack.com.
