Join us for our next Bits in Bio Meetup event! Where a handful of fellow BiB product leads will be sharing their personal stories and chatting about what "product management" means in biotech & software Our featured panelists will include: Grace Tharmarajah (Tierra Bio), Jack Morel (Resilience), Mace Cheng (Zymergen) and Masaki Yamada (Invert Bio). This gathering will bring together exceptional founders, operators, students, investors, and more all interested at the intersection of product, computation, and biotechnology. Huge thank you to our sponsor Benchling! Please RSVP as soon as possible, as we will need to share a list of names with security ahead of the event! Light food and drinks will be provided, hope to see you all there! About our panelists: Grace is the VP, Product and Marketing at Tierra Biosciences. She discovered her passion for science during an undergraduate research project, which eventually led her to a Ph.D. in medical genetics. She is inspired by scientific discovery but wanted an alternative to traditional careers in research. After finishing graduate school, she found herself at an early stage startup that was developing microfluidic instruments for nanoparticle manufacturing. During her time there, she discovered product management and went on to be a product manager at STEMCELL Technologies, Natera and Synthego. Product management has allowed her to build tools and processes to support scientists and clinicians over the years while working with amazingly diverse teams. Jack is a synthesist and former research scientist. In their current role as a product manager, they bring together the best parts of software, hardware, and biology to bring therapies to patients faster. In the past they've worked in product management, solution engineering, and late stage biopharmaceutical development with a consistent drive for making science more reproducible. They treat the tools of science and the science itself as a product – enabling broad impacts and antedisciplinary collaboration in the scientific community. Mace Cheng is a geneticist (Stanford PhD, MIT BS) turned product leader and startup operator. She has brought innovative products to market from bench to bedside. She enjoys working in uncharted territory, including launching one of the first FDA pilots in the AI/ML voice biomarker space. She has launched multiple tools to help scientists design their experiments and analyze their results, including at Zymergen, a synthetic biology company and advises and consults for other startups in the space. Masaki Yamada is the Head of Product at Invert, a software company focused on accelerating biomanufacturing through data management, analysis, and experimental coordination. He started his career in the wet-lab - with strain engineering and process development at NASA Ames, Amunix, and Genentech. He transitioned into Product while at Culture Biosciences, where he managed the development of novel hardware, software, and fermentation services.
