❛ᴗ❛Dear Bay Area friends! I’m returning to Untitled Theater for one last hurrah before embarking on my PhD adventures at Princeton! This semester we’re doing Stupid Fucking Bird — an adaptation of Chekhov’s Seagull. Michael and I (along with our wonderful cast and crew) have been working tirelessly to bring this bitingly funny and quietly devastating production to life. It’s been such an honor to work as both the dramaturg and associate director, and I can’t wait for all of you to see it! About the Production:
Aaron Posner’s fearless, funny, and quietly devastating riff on Chekhov’s The Seagull. Artists and lovers collide at a lakeside house, chasing love, fame, and someone to blame. Staged inside a warehouse around a half built proscenium (scaffolding, lights, and backstage all in full view), the production sets Chekhov’s grounded realism beneath Posner’s wry, modern pacing: absurd and painfully real in equal measure, this is the kind of play where you find yourself in every character, sometimes uncomfortably. These are people searching for new forms of art, of love, of living — and, in a small way, so is this production.
