This talk and discussion examines the multifaceted role of recipes in women’s food memoirs. Down argues that recipes within memoirs are not just practical, they invite the reader to participate in the text with their own bodies, something most literary forms do not do.
Attendees will be invited to reconsider where literary form stops, and performance begins, to expand our understandings of domesticity, literature, and memory.
