KBACH KHMER: MUDRAS&GESTURES a second annual khmer new year exhibit + celebration. an offering for the seattle diaspora of koun khmer, near and far. tell your bong, p'oun, bok, maiy, ming, pu, tha, and yeays! its an intergenerational hang with khmer art, khmer music, and khmer culture! this year, we will hyperfocus on kbach [ក្បាច់] - intricate hand gestures used in classical khmer dance. These gestures communicate, tell stories, and represent emotions (joy, fear, love) or natural elements (flowers, leaves, animals) within the dance. come for the intentionality for the joy of koun khmer, at the heart of seattle's historic arts district in pioneer square.
