Mada, “Amongst My Things”, Opening Reception

Join us for the opening reception of Mada’s first solo exhibition, “Amongst My Things”. We’ll have live DJs, refreshments & Mada will be in attendance. “Amongst My Things” encapsulates the artist's deep affection for shopping & her insatiable love for trinkets & cute objects, a passion that has nearly taken over her life. This exhibition delves into the cyclical nature & inner struggle of consumerism. It captures the joy these items bring her while also highlighting the financial strain & stress of never having enough money. Through playful & colorful compositions, Mada acknowledges her slight addiction to shopping. Each piece is a reflection of the delicate balance between the happiness derived from these possessions & the reality of their impact on her life. The series is still evolving & will be showcased in November 2024. —About Mada— Mada is an emerging painter based in the NYC area. With a degree in Animation & Fashion Design from the Savannah College of Art & Design in Hong Kong, she has honed her skills in both traditional & digital mediums.. As a young artist, Mada draws heavy influence from anime, video games, & street fashion, elements that shine through in the expressive & cartoony style of her work. Her art is a journey of self-exploration, particularly in understanding her identity as a woman & as an individual. Having hidden away many emotions growing up, Mada is now embracing the opportunity to feel & express them. Through painting, she is relearning her identity & getting to know herself. Despite the vulnerability that comes with this process, she maintains a light-hearted approach by using vivid colors & catchy phrases. Mada's work is a vibrant testament to her evolving self- discovery & emotional expression.
