MECK DEC BAR CRAWL On May 16, South End comes alive for an unforgettable experience to celebrate Charlotte’s most fascinating and overlooked holiday: the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence! Dress up in revolutionary attire and help us turn South End into 1775! A year before George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and others declared independence in 1776, local leaders in Charlotte declared independence from British rule themselves. It's a story so central to the city that “May 20, 1775” still appears on the North Carolina state flag today. Whether you know the story or not, this is your chance to experience it in a way Charlotte never has before. ⸻ What to Expect This is a FREE, multi-venue bar crawl across Charlotte featuring: • Revolutionary costumes • 6 participating bars • A different giveaway, drink special, or experience at every stop Think St. Patrick's Day meets Halloween, but make it Charlotte's very own holiday! Each stop brings something new.
