Artist for Alex Bores Hangout

Painters, writers, musicians, actors, designers, filmmakers, photographers! If you are a creative and you're sick of watching AI companies help themselves to your work, come hang out with us! There'll be drinks, snacks, games, and a room full of NYC artists discussing how AI is transforming the arts. We’ll also spend some time on the one concrete thing we can do about it right now: supporting Alex Bores in the NY-12 congressional primary on June 23! Alex Bores is the single best candidate in the country for creative workers, and the AI industry seems to agree: a super PAC funded by executives and investors from OpenAI, Andreessen Horowitz, and Palantir is spending millions to defeat him, because he's proven he'll regulate them. Here are some reasons why we support Alex: 1. He passed a data transparency bill that forces AI companies to disclose what data their models were trained on. 2. He passed a bill requiring AI-generated images, video, and text to be labeled as AI-made, so the slop has to identify itself. 3. He wants a federal Name, Image, and Voice Protection Act to protect your personal brand. He's already introduced the New York version, which would let you sue if someone makes an AI copy of your likeness or voice without your permission. 4. He wrote the RAISE Act, the strongest AI safety law in the country, and got it passed despite Trump's executive order threatening states that regulate AI. Then he passed a follow-up to make it stronger. 5. He also wrote the law that stops employers from claiming what you create on your own time. Day job plus creative practice? Your work stays yours. Note: Please bring a laptop if you have one. During the event, we will take time to contact friends in the district about voting for Alex, and a laptop will make this easier.
