We’re so excited to be hosting Queeraoke, a joyful queer space for connections, fun, and community. Join us on Friday, Sept. 27 from 7-9pm at Ritual Cafe! Whether you’re belting out tunes or just enjoying the vibes we welcome you for a night of karaoke! Drinks available for purchase and light snacks on the house. This is an exclusively queer and sober event for ages 18+. If you are not a member of the LGBTQ+ community, this space is not for you. If you would like to support us, you can donate directly to Common Love or give Ritual Cafe a visit! Ritual Cafe has limited capacity, so rsvp while you can! We’re offering tickets on a tiered system. Thank you to SadBoy Ceramics (@sadboy_ceramics) for the beautiful language. We appreciate being in community with you! RSVP and then bring cash to the event based on your preferred ticket price. (We will also have an online way to donate via credit card.) Money raised at the event will go towards gender affirming products for the community and mutual aid to Palestinians via the Denizens Society (IG @denizenssociety). Tier 1 ($20-25): If you are employed, own property, have regular access to healthcare and spend little time worried about paying for basic necessities, you have economic privilege and power in our community. This price is for you. Tier 2 ($10 - $15): This price is for those who are able to pay for their basic needs but have little-to-no expendable income. If you have stable income and do not think often about accessing food, shelter, healthcare, or childcare, if attending this event feels like a sacrifice, but it does not create hardship, this price may be for you. Tier 3 ($0 - $5): This price is for those who struggle to meet basic needs and attending this event would be a significant hardship. If you qualify for government assistance for housing, food, or healthcare, you live paycheck to paycheck, you have limited access to a vehicle/transportation, if you are unemployed of it you have debt that prohibits you from meeting your basic needs, this price is for you. — new info 9/26 — Queeraoke is almost here! We're thrilled you've RSVP'd to join us on Friday night for a gay old time at Ritual Cafe (1301 Locust St) from 7-9pm. Some reminders and tips from the four babes running the show: - Reminder this is a queer and sober space. If you're vaping, smoking, etc please step outside. - Doors open at 7pm - sign up for karaoke, grab a drink, mingle, discover something crafty, and we'll kick off the evening at 7:30. We hope you'll sing and dance along with the performers as you feel comfortable. - Ticket prices range from $0 - $25, pay what feels comfortable to you. We're splitting the donations between Common Love (for gender affirming products for folks) and a Palestinian mutual aid project called the Denizens Society. If paying, bring cash or pay with a card via our donation site. - Ritual will have a water station available for everyone and sell drinks including lots of non-caffeinated beverages like chai, hot chocolate, italian soda, smoothies, hot teas, decaf coffee/espresso drinks, and more. They'll also have non-vegan pastries for sale (sorry vegan friends we tried). Please be generous with your tips to the baristas if you can. - We'll have chips + salsa and hummus + veggies for snacking which will all be vegan. - Parking meters are enforced around Ritual until 9pm. DART has a few routes that come near Ritual (5, 14, 60). https://ridedart.com/mydart/trip-planner Some buses stop running before the event is over, if you need a ride home - please get in touch, Instagram DM is the best way. - During the event, the restrooms at Ritual will be gender inclusive. We'll have signs that indicate urinals/stalls. - We'll have some masks available if you'd like to wear one. If the weather is nice, we plan to open the garage door to let in loads of fresh air. Did we forget something you're curious about? Drop us a line at hello@commonlovedsm.com or message us on Instagram @commonlovedsm. We can't wait to see you!
