Behind the Song:
I met Arieh Berl (Pink Skies), at the Cosmic Jelly songwriting camp in Imogen Heap’s house last summer. A few weeks after camp, I got a message from him, "Super last minute, but we are looking for a topline over this beat for a brief. It's due EOD." It was 3pm. I dropped everything and started writing.
The brief describes a scene set in Athens. A young Canadian journalist falls in love with an Afghan refugee. The two find themselves in a strip club, listening to this song as the women dance.
I wanted to capture the breathless excitement of falling for someone in a beautiful faraway place. Knowing that you don’t have much time, savoring every moment. The intensity, the uncertainty, and everything feeling brand new.
