Maria Panina is a photographer and visual artist based in New York. She was born in Moscow grew up in Russia and has been a working photographer since moving to New York City in 2013.
Her artistic work is deeply personal and explores human emotions, connection and trust
through how our bodies move. She works with a variety of talent at the intersection of dance,
modeling and acting worlds, letting each shoot flow in its own way, gently directing and leaving
room to improvise. That process is the key to her artistic exploration that gives the collaborators
the sense of agency and creative control. She is
inspired by dance, art, traveling internationally, big bodies of water and the humans of New York
City. Her work has recently been featured in a number of galleries in New York and Paris
alongside other emerging and established artists.
This is her first solo show that features an overview of the work alongside a series on couples.
The work invites the viewer to explore resilience, diversity of beauty and deep connection to
oneself and others.
