When the Miss May Does Not Exist paperback release roughly coincides with the anniversary of the October Revolution insurrection at Petrograd which also roughly coincides with the election of a DSA mayor to New York City...seems pretty obvious that the only way to mark the occasion is to watch REDS (1981).
I realize, of course, I say this knowing—as do many of you—that I do not actually need any reason to watch Reds. I'm just making it a party this time.
Come out to Selva from 7-10 on 11/17 to celebrate it all. If you are able, a $10 donation to the New York Immigrant Coalition is highly suggested. This IS a party centered around a movie about socialism, after all, so let's give back to those on the frontlines in the fight against ICE. (I realize, too, I'm saying this on the Palantir-backed party app. No ethical consumption under capitalism, etc. etc.)
Anyway, all are welcome. (Really. Bring friends.) It's nearly Thanksgiving; why don't you come as a turkey? I'd love to see you!
