on thursday may 21st we introduce CINEMOVE, a celebration of film & dance...
For our first installment we will be focusing in on the 1977 classic, “Saturday Night Fever” starring John Travolta & Karen Lynn Gorney, directed by John Badham, with a soundtrack based around Bee-Gees mega classic songs you all know & love, which was the best selling album ever until Thriller dropped..
endlessly referenced & parodied, the film has become a meme & trope, but truly belongs in the canon of gritty NYC 70s movies. a bleak depiction of working class Brooklyn neighborhood & family life, punctuated by fantastic escapist dance sequences, Saturday Night Fever is a film about class, race, ambition, sex & ultimately friendship
At 7pm we will be listening to the entire soundtrack.. Get there so you can guarantee yourself a seat for the film & indulge in food & drinks…
At 8pm we will be screening the film.
Once the film ends, we will do a ceremonial hanging of the disco ball & turn Sanger Hall into a party with Human? DJing disco classics until last call…
No cover, so spend your money at the bar…
