“Inferno” Listening Party & Salon: Boards of Canada’s Message to Humanity

◔◟◔Join us for an invite-only listening party and salon in reverence of Boards of Canada’s first album in thirteen years. Cohosted by Minicircle.
We don’t really listen anymore. We scroll past sound. We have it on while we work. We let it run while we do other things. We’ve forgotten what it feels like to let an album engulf our bodies fully and absolutely.
On May 29th, Boards of Canada release Inferno. They did not pick that name lightly, to say the least.
We’re gathering some of Austin’s most experimental musicians, artists, writers, founders, and intellectuals to engage in the practice of maximal listening—listening to music with the entire body. Loud. In the dark. Lying on the floor.
We combine experimental music with sound pressure and meditation principles to guide an attentive listening experience that’s as physiological as it is psychological. No phones. No talking. No distractions.
We’ll first listen to Tomorrow’s Harvest—BoC’s 2013 album—a warning thirteen years ago about what was coming. Then Dean will give a short talk on Boards of Canada’s message to humanity and what we’ve stopped being able to hear. Then Inferno. Then group discussion.
