This event is part song, part dance, part hangout—and all about being together.
Join me on Saturday, March 28th. To learn some songs, then learn some dancin.
Bring your kids! It’s totally your call about young people, though it is recommend bringing them for the dance portion, since there will be more to do then.
Schedule:
2:00–4:00 PM: Circle singing in celebration of Negro spirituals
No singing experience necessary—come as you are.
4:00–5:00 PM: Intermission + snacks
5:00–7:30 PM: Square dancing
No dance experience necessary—all are welcome.
The circle singing will be a time to gather, remember, and honor the legacy and living power of Negro spirituals through communal song, and the square dancing is all about joy, movement, and being together. This is a potluck, so bring something to share if you can.
Most importantly, let’s give it up for the band—because without their jams, we’d have nothing to dance to. This event is pay-what-you-can, and we truly mean it. 80% of funds raised will go to the band and the other 20% will go to the Nonprofit Association of Outdoor and Environmental Educators. If all you’ve got is a quarter or a penny, we’ll gladly collect those too.
Alcohol will not be served. If you choose to partake on your own, please do so responsibly.
Rain or shine.
There’s a short questionnaire to fill out—it really helps with planning.
We can’t wait to see you on Saturday, March 28th!
