Berkeley BASICS & Defense Tech at the Edge: Capital, Policy, and Talent

Funding, Policy, and Field Reality is a Berkeley BASICS panel, co-hosted with the JOE team (AI-powered military recruitment) and Qluu (autonomous counter-UAV). The session convenes a cross-functional roster with Cal faculty, Navy SEALs, USAF Captains, founders, and policy/lobbying leaders to dissect what it takes to launch successful defense companies. We’ll cover capital formation for contracting and compliance (DIU/AFWERX/CDAO), export/release constraints, and operator-driven requirements. 60–75 minutes plus Q&A. A post-event brief will map teams, timelines, and procurement pathways for attendees.
