Come join the "so-called" poets of Boise for a poetry open-mic in honor of a brave poet who cared dearly about her community: Renée Good. To not forget our own community we will be fundraising for our friend Rosi and her family who have been personally impacted by ICE. Books purchased during the day and at the event will help raise funds for their family as they navigate the unimaginable.
The why:
Another poet has been taken from us by this empire's ICE-y clutches. She was fighting against it's unjust violence and was unjustly murdered for it.
She did not go quiet into that dark night, and neither should we. We should use our voices, our bodies, our abilities, our resources to defend and support those most affected. People like the hundreds of families torn apart and traumatized by the raid in Wilder. People like Rosi, who's husband was ripped from her and their family. People who's stories are only known in bits and pieces by the relations they have been taken from.
Come raise your voices with us, in a community poetry event to honor the poet Renee Good and raise money for Rosi. Bring your grief, bring your tears, bring your hopes, and bring your fire! Fire is warmth and care and rage and power, and I hope we can keep the flames of our hearts alight, burning bright enough to cast light where it is needed, and hot enough to melt what needs to melt 🧊
