Hey, we (Mike & Adel) are hosting a "Food That Said I Love You" Potluck (don't forget to BYO Parents) at a magical house in SF. A potluck for one very specific kind of food: the dish your parents made instead of saying "I love you." Who: If you grew up in a house where love arrived as juicy turkey, cut fruit at 11pm, an extra egg in your noodles, a thermos packed without being asked... come. If you're now the one doing the cutting and packing for your own kid... definitely come. We recommend you bring-your-own parent. That's kind of the point. The evening: 11:30 AM: Doors open + drinks + snacks 12:15 PM: Welcome + Food Stories — everyone gets a minute: what you brought, who made it first, and what it meant 1:30 PM: A Magically Weird Activity 2:15 PM: Close The dish: Bring the food that said "I love you" growing up. Whatever feels more authentic and true to your and your story. Steamed eggs. Arroz con leche. A specific brand of instant noodles prepared a specific way. The sandwich cut into the shape they always cut it. Store-bought counts if store-bought is what love looked like. If a parent is coming and wants to make it themselves, even better. The vibe: No performance. No cooking competition. No fancy dinner party. If someone's grandma takes over the kitchen and starts feeding strangers, that's a win. What to bring: The dish, snack, or drink that means something to you. A card or little story about who it came from. A parent / grandparent This will be intimate! Much love and nom nom, Mike & Adel
