You’ve been meaning to find your people. This is where you start! SheWolf is kicking off its 6-month Hike Series with Hike 01 on the Palmetto Trail at Lake Brandt—and we are so excited to be hosting this in full collaboration with Girls Who Hike NC and The Mothership Collective! 🐺🌿✨ No experience needed, no pressure—just women, woods, and a whole lot of good conversation. We’ll meet at the trailhead for a gorgeous, easy 1-hour loop, hiking at a relaxed, social pace along the water. Whether you come solo or bring a friend, you’ll leave feeling more connected to a truly amazing village of women. The Details: Beginner-friendly, dog-friendly (on leash), and you-friendly! * Kiddos welcome, but strollers are not possible due to dirt paths and tree roots on the trail. If your little ones are small, please bring a carrier! Parking: Meet at the official Palmetto Trailhead Lot on Old Battleground Road (just north of the Old Battleground Rd & Lake Brandt Rd intersection). Note: We are NOT meeting at Bur-Mil Park. * Overflow Plan: If the trailhead lot is full, park 2 minutes away at the Harris Teeter lot (Battleground & Horse Pen Creek). A SheWolf "Alpha" pack leader will be there to help coordinate quick carpools down to the trail! Come meet your collective, your community, and your pack. See you Saturday at 9 AM! 📍 Palmetto Trailhead Lot: Old Battleground Rd, Greensboro, NC (Just north of Horse Pen Creek Rd). Here is your complete, finalized FAQ list ready to copy and paste directly into your SheWolf event listing! 🧭 Event FAQs: Hike 01 — Lake Brandt 3-Trail Loop 🚗 Parking, Carpooling, & Logistics Q: Where should I drive to first? A: Please drive directly to the Palmetto Trailhead Lot (Pin A) on Old Battleground Rd for an 8:45 AM arrival. Q: What if the trailhead lot is full when I get there? A: This lot is quite small (around 6 spaces) and fills up quickly! If it is full, check our event group chat/app immediately. If the lot is full, you will: Drive 3 minutes up the road to the Harris Teeter Lot (Pin B) at Battleground Ave & Old Battleground Rd. Park there and look for our "Alpha" leader holding an orange flag. The group at Harris Teeter will walk down to the trailhead together with the Alpha to meet the rest of the hikers. Q: What time will the hike actually start and finish? A: We hit the trail promptly at 9:00 AM. The 2.8-mile loop takes about 1 hour at a moderate adult pace, or closer to 1.5 hours if we have little explorers taking their time. Expect to be back at the cars around 10:15 AM – 10:30 AM. 🥾 Pacing, Group Safety, & Early Departures Q: What if I walk faster or slower than the rest of the group? A: We naturally split into two comfortable paces so everyone has a good time: Adult Pace: If you want to move at the pace of adult legs, feel free to stay toward the front of the pack. Kiddo Pace: If you are waiting on little kiddo legs, you’ll be sticking together in the "Mama Village" at the back! No matter which pace you choose, the golden rule is to always stay with a buddy and remain within sight of your part of the group. No one hikes alone! Q: What if my kids get tired and I need to turn around early? A: We completely understand—kids have their moments! If you need to leave early and turn back instead of completing the full 2.8-mile loop, please let someone from the SheWolf team know before you split off. We want to make sure every single mom and kiddo is accounted for and makes it back to their car safely! 👩‍👧‍👦 Family, Kids, & Accessibility Q: Is this hike safe and suitable for children? A: Yes! The distance (2.8 miles) is a great "sweet spot" for kids aged 6 and up. The route stays entirely off main roads and features a beautiful, railed pedestrian bridge over the lake that kids love. Q: Can I bring a stroller? A: No strollers are allowed on this specific hike. While the A&Y Greenway sections (Sections 2 & 4) are paved and flat, the Palmetto and Nat Greene sections (Sections 1 & 3) are narrow, dirt singletrack trails filled with tree roots and rolling terrain. If you are bringing toddlers or infants, a hiking backpack or carrier is required. 🎒 Trail Conditions & Gear Q: What should I wear and pack? A: * Shoes: Sneakers with good grip or hiking shoes are highly recommended due to the exposed tree roots on the dirt trails. Gear: Bring a water bottle and snacks for the kids (we have a designated snack break scheduled for the end of the loop!). Sun/Bug Protection: The dirt trails are beautifully shaded by a dense tree canopy, but insect repellent is always a good idea near the lake. Q: What happens if it rains before the event? A: The Nat Greene portion of our hike features a low-lying wooden boardwalk near the lake. If Greensboro experiences heavy rain in the 48 hours leading up to the hike, this area can become incredibly muddy and slick. In the event of heavy rain or flooding, we will send out a notification via the app to postpone or modify the route for safety.
