Skip the name-tag mixer. Players Wanted is a three-bar crawl through the NoHo Arts District where every stop runs a different social game designed to break the awkwardness, so you meet people by playing with them instead of pitching at them. We kick off at 4:15 at Granville on Magnolia, points carry across the night, and the top scorers win prizes. We wrap at Brews Brothers right as Tech is a Joke kicks off: live stand-up from engineers, founders and data scientists roasting the industry they work in. THE ROUTE (all a few minutes' walk apart) 4:15 to 5:15pm: GRANVILLE, 11136 Magnolia Blvd A big, bi-level industrial-modern spot right at Magnolia and Lankershim, with high ceilings, roomy booths, a community table and a calmer upstairs lounge. Tuesday is all-day happy hour here (the only Granville where that's true), so settle in with craft cocktails and shareable plates while we warm up. 5:15 to 6:15pm: WHERE THE CREATURES SLEEP AT SHADOW GROVE, 5249 Lankershim Blvd Like drinking inside a dark storybook. This gothic-fantasy brewpub from Shadow Grove Brewing is wrapped in twisting vines and moody light, and every small-batch beer is a character in an ongoing story (try the hazy "That Which Hides in the Haze"). Happy hour runs until 6: $2 off drafts, wine and flights, $2 crispy chickpeas, and a $10 burger and fries. 6:15 to 7:15pm: THE CANTIKI, 11100 Magnolia Blvd A transportive tiki hideaway with fiery, sassy cocktails. Happy hour lasts until 6:30, so come early for $9 Mai Tais, Zombielands, Scorpions and Tiger Punch, $10 classics, $7 tall boys, and select cocktails as a shareable bucket for $5 more. 7:15pm: BREWS BROTHERS, 5140 Lankershim Blvd A craft brewpub from LA beer lifers Billie and Joey, pouring Belgian-inspired house beers.
