In the spring, cold and dry air is funneled from northern Canada where it collides with warm and humid air in the southern United States. This difference in temperature and humidity creates steep air pressure gradients, forcing air to rush from high-pressure areas to low-pressure areas to equalize the atmosphere (wind).
Every April, thousands of kites take advantage of this and take flight over Zilker Park, bringing a sense of childlike wonder amongst Austinites young and old 🪁
If you've never been to the kite festival, this is your year! Join friends on Saturday, April 11th. The festival is from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, but I'm going to post at 1:00 PM - end. Come and go as you please, open invite, the more the merrier.
Once we get closer to April and have a sense of group size, I'll share deets on where in Zilker we are hanging out
Parking will be a bit tricky, but you guys know how it goes. I highly suggest riding bikes, ride share, or parking somewhere that's easy to walk from.
I'll be biking from Hype Park if anyone wants to join, can also swing by if you live between me & Zilker :)
BYOB, lots of vendors, pictures, and good vibes across the park
Potential stop at Barton Springs or Chuys after?? The world is ours
