Join us for the opening reception of Reinvent: a show by Arthur Banach. ————————————————————————— “The first change that takes place is in your mind. You have to change your mind before you change your way of living and the way you move” - Gil Scott Heron Reinvent is a show about that first change. Filled with portraiture, abstract retellings of portraiture, and hip hop and jazz and soul… all the people, ideas, and music that pushes me to always try and grow and change. My focus is color and energy, less so realism or accuracy. I still want you to see the people I choose to paint though, so it’s reigned in. The paintings that aren’t focused on a real figure or album - you might see yourself in them like I do, and maybe you’ll see the changes in your past or changes yet to come. Details: Reception is 6:30-9:30pm Music: I’ve been a huge hip hop head for as long as I can remember, and grateful to have Oddisee joining us for an hour to play some beats. Quincy Davis will be spinning from 6:30-8pm, and Oddisee will take over from 8-9pm. Light snacks and bevs provided BYOB friendly All artwork is for sale - Half of all sales will be donated to the Acacia Center for Justice, a legal aid organization offering support to immigrants facing detainment and deportation.
