AGAINST ALL EVIL is proud to host a dynamic series of artist-led workshops and live demonstrations by Joanne Pollock, recognized under her artist name Siren Mars. Siren Mars represents the latest evolution of a multifaceted musical project that has spanned cities, disciplines, and identities. A producer, DJ, and performer, she has released multiple singles and an EP on the Planet Mu TIMESIG imprint, toured across Europe and Canada, and was one half of the experimental duo Poemss alongside Venetian Snares. Her work has been featured in outlets including CBC, Line Of Best Fit, and Vice, and she currently co-produces the event series Hauterageous Worldwide.
Deeply committed to education and community-building, Siren Mars is also the founder of the EQUALIZER series, an initiative dedicated to teaching technical skills to women and non-binary musicians. This ethos carries through the workshop series, which emphasizes accessibility, empowerment, and creative autonomy within music and nightlife culture.
Spanning several months, this program offers participants an opportunity to engage directly with an artist working in contemporary club and experimental music scenes. Each session blends practical skill-building with critical discussion, encouraging attendees to develop both their technical abilities and their artistic voice.
The series begins with foundational DJ workshops focused on core techniques such as mixing, track selection, and performance flow, before expanding into more advanced demonstrations of style and approach. Production-focused sessions will guide participants through building tracks in Ableton Live, demystifying workflow, arrangement, and sound design, as well as translating studio work into engaging live electronic performances. Additional sessions will address the practicalities of building a functional home studio, making music production more accessible and sustainable.
Alongside technical instruction, Siren Mars will lead conversations around artistic practice and the realities of navigating independent music communities. Mentorship sessions interspersed throughout the program provide space for individualized feedback and deeper engagement, supporting participants in refining their personal direction.
The series culminates in a final collaborative workshop and group performance, offering participants the chance to apply their skills in a live, supportive environment.
These engagements reflect AGAINST ALL EVIL’s ongoing commitment to supporting emerging artists—particularly women and underrepresented voices—through thoughtful, community-driven programming grounded in real-world artistic practice.
