Learn a bit about the history of zine-making, browse a wide variety of zines to get inspired, and learn how to make 3 different kinds of zines:
-An 8-page foldy zine from a single sheet of paper,
-An 8-page booklet zine, and
-A collaborative zine on a fun topic, with contributions from all workshop participants
...using the tools we have in the Gear Library.
You might like to bring your own:
*Favorite zines for Show & Tell
*Collage / scrapbooking supplies (like scissors, washi tape, magazines, anything with cool, flat designs)
*Words (eg a poem or very short story) printed out so you can incorporate them into your zine(s)
...or just show up and make something up on the fly, we've got lots of pens and other materials available in the studio that you're welcome to use :)
If people are interested and time allows, we'll also cover the basics of risograph printing, an economical way to produce gorgeous zines (not to mention art prints). 'Cause we'd love for you to join a future Clement Collective field trip to a Print Cafe at Reprographixxx studio in Berkeley, woot woot!
