Melt: Pride Movie Night Edition

The venue is a one-story house. It is wheelchair accessible. There is a bathroom and fridge access, and a backyard. Multiple seating options from couches, benches, folding chairs, stools, to floor pillows. We will have food available (meat/vegan/veg options) - bring snacks or drinks if you want! No smoking inside. Alcohol permitted (BYOB). No shoes inside, please! Masks provided and encouraged.
MELT is back on Thursday, June 13 — and it’s movie night!
For this Pride edition of MELT, we’re screening five short films by and about queer and trans sex workers.
We’ll open the evening with a peer support circle on resilience—sharing strategies for staying grounded and strong when things are hard. Then we’ll serve dinner from Peace Bakery and settle in for a lineup of stunning short films made by our community and for our community.
Because Pride wouldn’t exist without trans sex workers — and we’ll never forget it.

MELT Movie Night Lineup
Thursday, June 13
1. House of Whoreship (2023, 16 min)
A queer brothel comedy made by and for sex workers — Violet shows up to her shift and finds her ex working the same night.
2. Atlantic is a Sea of Bones (2017, 7 min)
A poetic portrait of Black trans life and memory in Brooklyn, starring Egyptt LaBeija and directed by Tourmaline.
3. Happy Birthday Marsha! (2018, 14 min)
A dreamy retelling of the hours before Stonewall, centered on Black trans icon and sex worker Marsha P. Johnson.
4. Kasbi (2024, 13 min)
In Karachi, a middle-aged housewife hires a 20-year-old escort for one night—an intimate exchange unfolds between two women.
5. Sam’s World (2024, 65 min)
A non-binary sex worker navigates a weekend of queer intimacy, relationship tension, and unexpected pregnancy in NYC.

MELT is a space by and for sex workers to let the stress melt off, let your guard down, and be held in community. It’s a night to soften and rebuild your strength, so you’re ready for whatever the world has to offer.
