On Saturday and Sunday August 9th & 10th, Powerful Voices is taking over the iconic Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. This social justice celebration is brought to you by the Youth Engagement Board–a group of 7 youth leaders on a mission to create a gathering for young people to nurture their roots, freely express themselves, and build a community of powerful youth leaders. Girlvolution weaves together BIPOC youth and community leaders working across arts, culture, healing, and activism to bring you an experience you won’t forget!
Saturday, focused on Multicultural Youth Unity will feature creative workshops like zine-making, a showcase of cultural performances, different cultural foods, intergenerational panels, and more! Sunday, rooted in Self & Community Care will feature an Opportunity Fair with youth vendors, artists, activists, community resources, healing activities, and more! On both days, we’ll have low sensory spaces available with art & self-care activities, time to sit and reflect, and even a free closing closet! You don’t want to miss this!
