Hey peeps! We’re about a week away from blue printing!!! This is a huge group so I wanted to detail some items that might be helpful for people.
Location: Malcolm X park (stationed near the bathrooms). Street parking is available. If you’re taking the metro, get off at the Columbia Heights metro and it’s about a 15 minute walk from there
Time: 11am - 1 pm
Recommended to bring: picnic blanket and/or chair, small objects to use for printing, drink/snacks, and a baggy to take home all your artwork!
Price: Students who have their own cyanotype kit are encouraged to bring them but if you do not, you can reserve one through me by Friday night for $30.
You can Venmo me at @sammiecorrea https://venmo.com/u/SammieCorrea with the subject line “your name_blue”
Once you’ve sent your payment, I’ll confirm and reserve a kit for you!
Workshop agenda: We will start off with the historical background, a tutorial, and you’ll have about 1.5 hours to explore your creative side!
You will be provided an abundance of paper and supplemental materials so that you can preserve your kits for later use 😊
If you want some printing inspo, take a look at this Pinterest board: https://pin.it/5NGFLCTKf
If you have any questions/concerns, please feel free to reach out to me! At this point we have about 28 people in the course, excited to meet you all next Sunday ✨

This workshop was created with the intention to support local creatives with their own cyanotype chemicals/kits that would like a guided session with this technique.
Students do not need prior experience.
Participants will learn basic cyanotype printing techniques for printing UV light sensitive photo-grams. You will learn a short history of cyanotypes, learn to coat different types of paper, and use objects from nature and around the house to make your custom prints.
Students will be provided watercolor paper and brushes but most students should bring their own chemicals/kits for printing.
If students do not have their own kits, kits will be available for purchase during the event for $30.
Students are encouraged to bring their own objects to create their photograms with. Nature based materials can be gathered during the workshop.
Examples of different types of objects that can be utilized are:
•flowers, any kind (pressed or fresh)
•leaves, weeds, grass
•feathers
•paper - cut into shapes
•small glass bottles, any smaller glass objects
•paperclips, pens, pencils, paintbrushes
•earrings, broaches, necklaces, rings
•Digital negatives and/or film negatives
