•‿•Known studio has offered their space to throw a fundraiser as I prepare for top surgery; something I've looked forward to for years.
Because my work is so physically demanding, I’ll need to step away for six to eight weeks to rest, heal, and tend to my body. The reality of that pause is an inevitable loss of income which has been what’s kept me waiting.
Now, I’m choosing to move forward, and to trust in the community I’ve built and been held by.
If you feel called to support me during this time, any contribution helps soften the financial weight of rest and recovery. Being able to heal without the constant pressure of making ends meet would mean more than I can fully express.
As a small offering in return, I’ll be holding a raffle with a collection of work and gifts donated by the talented individuals that surround me, details to come shortly. There will also be a way to virtually enter the raffle for those who are local, but can’t make it in person on Sunday.
There will be food and drinks for purchase, as well as games and crafts. I have also created a separate GoFundMe for folks who can't participate in the event/raffle, but still wish to contribute. Regardless of what you can give, just knowing that I have this community behind me means the world. Spreading the word about this event can go a far way as well.
This moment feels like a kind of becoming; a shift, a return, a metamorphosis.
It means so much to not move through it alone.
