Jared Mattson rose to prominence as one half of the celebrated musical duo The Mattson 2. Launched in 2009, Jared, together with his twin brother Jonathan, crafted a sound inspired by bebop and surf, winning widespread critical acclaim across fifteen years and five full-length album releases. A celebrated collaboration with Chaz Bear of Toro y Moi produced 2017’s Star Stuff, topping Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart at number one. In 2019, Jared stepped boldly into his own with Peanut, a debut solo record spanning reggae, R&B, and art rock that showcases an artist with unbounded range.
Collaborating with Jared is Chili Corder, a versatile guitarist recognized for his work in multiple bands and ensembles featured at the Bay Area’s leading jazz venues, including SFJAZZ, Black Cat, and Mr. Tipple’s. Chili’s live performances are known for their spirit, spontaneity, and high energy. In March, he performed alongside rising star vocalist Veotis Latchison at the SFJAZZ Joe Henderson Lab as a part of the sprawling, multi-venue Noise Pop Music Festival. Corder was mentored by jazz legend Kenny Burrell while studying ethnomusicology at UCLA, and he now works as a music educator in San Francisco.
