3rd Annual - Hair for You Fundraiser
For anyone I have yet to intimately introduce myself to, my name is Martha Ellen Mabry, and I’m the owner and founder of the Williamsburg-based brands Headchop & Lil’ Chop Salon. The “Hair For You” fundraiser was created from the deepest place in my heart as a cancer survivor.
In December 2020, I was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 31. I am tremendously blessed to share that I am now cancer-free and have been in remission for four years! I am forever grateful for the support our salons have experienced here in Williamsburg. My amazing team and this community carried me through one of the most difficult chapters of my life, and it’s because of that support that Headchop grew into its newest home at 98 South 4th Street and Lil’ Chop launched as a hub for beautification, creativity, and community events.
The Hair For You fundraiser is now entering its third installment at Lil’ Chop Salon! Last year, thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised $9,318, which placed our team, Hair-Raising Heroes, at #8 among all Manhattan Light the Night fundraisers. I was also honored to be recognized as the #3 fundraiser for the Emerging Leaders of LLS. None of this would have been possible without you.
This year, with the newly renamed Blood Cancer United (formerly LLS), I’ve set a new goal: to raise $10,000 with our Hair-Raising Heroes team. I would be honored to have you join us in making this possible.

A donation-based bar from 6–10 pm
DJs pumping sweet tunes all evening
A special speech from me at 7:30 pm
A packed raffle + silent auction featuring thoughtful donations from local NYC & Brooklyn businesses you know and love
RSVP is free of charge, but we’ve set a suggested donation of $25 to attend—through our fundraising page or Venmo @hair-for-you—to directly support this incredible cause.
It is truly an honor to share my story, to raise awareness, and to walk alongside so many beautiful souls for this magical evening—celebrating, remembering, and supporting those whose lives have been touched by blood cancer.
