Brooklyn, NY
This exhibition examines the fluid nature of Othering—how identities are shaped, erased, and redefined within economic, social, and cultural frameworks. Through various artistic practices, the works engage with the tensions between visibility and marginalization, inviting viewers to reflect on the shifting boundaries of selfhood and belonging.
Featuring works from: Sheila Carr, Jared Owens, Hyeree Ro, Rowan Renee, Ari Temkin, Hinda Weiss and Youjie Zhou
Perhaps the most straightforward question to ask is: How can we unlearn the practice of Othering, whether consciously or subconsciously? However, as deeply rooted habits are difficult to change, what if we refract the question instead? How should one reflect on Othering—both one’s experience as the one being othered and their potential role, even unintentionally, in sustaining it?
