Solo Exhibition at CULTUREEDIT Gallery Opening Reception This Saturday Dec 6 5-8 PM About the exhibition: What begins in the quiet focus of male erotic life-drawing sessions expands into the seductive, stylized world of The Boyz. In his debut solo exhibition, Jason Duffy merges that raw immediacy with the elegance of his fashion illustration roots, creating male figures that flirt, smolder, and unfold in color. The works charged with the electricity between artist and subject capture the evolution of an artist honing his eye on real bodies and transforming them into bold, sensual, beautifully heightened portraits of men through the eyes of a gay man. About Jason Duffy: Jason Duffy has been drawing since he was a kid, spending hours entertained by a simple piece of paper and crayons. His talent was quickly recognized by art teachers who encouraged him to continue exploring art. In high school, he advanced into college-level courses and received numerous accolades, including winning Best in Show for Art. After a brief period at the Santa Monica College of Design, Art & Architecture, Jason set out to find his true self. In the '90s, he immersed himself in the gay club scene of Los Angeles, drawing and designing imaginative outfits for his friends. This passion led him to the Fashion Design School at Parsons in New York City. There, he was deeply involved in fashion, the club scene, and the arts, blossoming into the person and artist he always wanted to be. At Parsons, he studied classical art fields including life drawing, illustration techniques, photography, art history, sculpture, and fashion. He spent his junior year abroad in Paris and won both of the Silver Thimble Awards offered to the graduating class during their final fashion show. After graduation, Jason worked in fashion with renowned designers like Tracy Reese and Alexander McQueen before transitioning into television. He has since worked on numerous TV shows, including producing "Project Runway" to this day. Throughout his TV career, Jason never stopped drawing for himself. Encouraged by a friend, he took an erotic model drawing class and was instantly hooked. His early piece "Pool Party" won Third Place in Tom of Finland's Emerging Erotic Artist Competition. Jason has continued to build his body of work over the past decade and, in recent years, has begun to share his work, starting with the Tom of Finland Erotic Art Fair in 2023, the CLAW Kinky Art Show in Cleveland in 2024, and the WayOut LA Charity Auctions in both 2023 and 2024. He also showed at and helped curate the CLAW Kinky Art Show in Los Angeles in 2024.
