There are no assigned books, no restrictions on genre or reading format. Our attendees are encouraged to explore their own interests, whether they read to further their intellectual curiosity or just for fun. Book ban attempts continue to rise across the US under the pretense of "protecting the children". Driven by politically-motivated groups, the books targeted are overwhelmingly from Black, Indigenous, and LGBTQIA+ voices. In honor of Banned Books Week (Oct 4-10), this Silent Book Club meetup has an uncensored twist: we're going to highlight challenged and banned books. How you engage is up to you: bring a banned/challenged book to read, donate to the Book Swap, or discuss with other attendees.
