Rooted in functional vessels and tea ware as a means of gathering, Abbas's ceramic sculptures reflect the communal nature of the practice through collaboration and the sharing of intergenerational knowledge.
Drawing on sacred geometries, Islamic craft traditions, and her cultural lineage as a Pakistani-American artist, her highly detailed miniature forms emerge through the transformation of vessel to abstraction and are informed by radially symmetrical marine life such as sea anemones, coral, and jellyfish.
