”We, this generation, are not alone, and what we have to give is vital. For the ones who will come after us to complete the work, those of us alive now must take up the work of transformation.” – noted author Sarah Augustine, in her essay "How do we fix the sun?" (link above; bio & bibliography at https://bookshop.org/contributors/sarah-augustine) We are excited to host Augustine right here in our very own Lancaster, Pennsylvania! The unfolding climate crisis, and the swirl of (dis)information about it, can make us all feel isolated, overwhelmed, and powerless. It's hard to know what's even happening, let alone where to begin. Sarah Augustine speaks with unusual clarity and conviction about the root causes of climate change, illuminating the full scale of the problem and helping us focus on the path forward. In this presentation, Augustine will help us seek reality with a capital R, discussing ecological overshoot and climate change as a symptom. We will work to shift our understanding of reality from an individual/capitalist frame to an ecological/collective frame that acknowledges interdependence in a closed system. Given this framing, we will discuss organizing for systems change at the national and local levels. Join us at Community Mennonite Church on Feb 15 at 10am to collectively dream a liberatory future. This will be Augustine's first talk of the weekend. Catch all four! https://linktr.ee/augustine.in.lanc While Augustine often writes and speaks for Christian audiences, this event will not have that focus. All backgrounds and persuasions are welcome, encouraged, and needed. Can't make it in person?
