Asiyah’s Mental Health Series Presents: Historic and Intergenerational Trauma (Virtual) ✨
Meghana will explain “historic and intergenerational trauma,” or how past events and tragedies, even those we didn’t personally experience, continue to be reenacted and influence our lives today. Using a guided framework, we’ll connect the dots between occupation, war, poverty, and violence in our homelands; emotional pain such as silence, betrayal, and abuse; and physical or psychic pain like chronic illnesses or symptoms that appear in our bodies, families, and communities. We’ll also explore how these experiences intersect with the racism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia we face in the U.S. By the end of the session, participants will have a deeper understanding of the factors that shape our emotional and physical well-being, empowering us to reclaim our right to liberation and happiness.
To our fellow mental health professionals: if you’re passionate about building a healthier, happier community, we would love to have you join us on this initiative! Please email socialservices@asiyahcenter.org with your interest.💜
