RECLAIM Dance with DJ Coflo 📅 Sunday, Oct 11 |🕑 1:45 – 5:30 PM | 📍 Bandaloop Studios, Oakland ***Doors close at 3:30pm*** RECLAIM is a daytime dance party for people who are BIPOC, Queer, or both! DJ Coflo Coflo Ferreira is music: mind, body and soul. A dancer, producer and Capoeirista whom was born and raised in the East Bay Area of California. Founder of Catch The Ghost Records and proud member of the Soulshifters artistry collective and legendary da.. Cody "Coflo" Ferreira began to study American club dance at the age of 13; where almost immediately his love for the music and the arts became something personal and necessary in his day to day life. Born and raised from Hawaiian and Portuguese folk musicians, Coflo was immersed in music as far back as he can remember. Through the years Coflo has travelled the world learning, teaching and performing dance. He has won many international tournaments of "House Dance" and is known for his connections to the artistry collective "The Soulshifters" as well as the legendary dance crew "Circle of Fire". At RECLAIM, the music takes you on a journey of expression and connection. We start slow, giving you time to warm up your body and settle into the space. As the rhythm builds, the energy rises, and you'll feel your blood pumping as genres shift, and new movements emerge. We end slow again, so we can settle our bodies and soak in all that we created together. This is a dance party— and--it’s a remembering of joy, of resistance, of being alive together. A place for BIPOC and/or QUEER communities to come together in bliss and depth.
