Join us for Mend in Public Day on April 26! This annual global initiative by Fashion Revolution challenges the culture of disposable fashion through hands-on care and creativity. The Slow-Poke Collective is hosting a mending picnic — come with a work-in-progress or start something new. Materials, guidance, and good vibes will be provided. Spread out on blankets, enjoy light snacks and refreshments, and stitch in community as we envision a more intentional world. Come mend, connect, and be part of the movement. 📍 Location: We'll be at the Wild East brewing company (623 Sackett). ☔️ Rain Plan: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll gather at Wild East Brewery in Gowanus. 🎟️ Tickets: $15 – with $5 from each ticket donated to Fashion Revolution. About Slow-Poke Collective: Jessi and Leala, founders of Slow-Poke Collective, are deeply passionate about community building, the climate, sustainable fashion, and how crafting can bridge these topics. We launched the Slow-Poke Collective in 2024 to provide a space where people could learn new skills, meet others interested in climate optimism and sustainability, and have discussions around craft, textiles, circular economy, and the climate. Our events encompass a variety of fiber arts, and we source as many supplies as possible second-hand. For more information, find us on instagram (@slowpokecollective). About Fashion Revolution: Founded by Carry Somers and Orsola de Castro in response to the Rana Plaza disaster in 2013, Fashion Revolution is now the world’s largest fashion activism movement. Through research, education, and advocacy, they mobilize citizens, brands, and policymakers to demand a more ethical fashion system. Mend in Public Day is part of Fashion Revolution Week, an annual global campaign that activates thousands around the world to rethink how our clothes are made, worn, and cared for. 🔗 Learn more at fashionrevolution.org We’re not affiliated with Fashion Revolution—just inspired by their work and happy they exist!
