It’s in the Garage is a multi-media exhibition and fundraiser that dives into the cyclical nature of return and abandonment: what we leave behind, store away, and inevitably find ourselves drawn back to.
Inside a real garage in Greenpoint, the space is a literal and symbolic site of accumulation and reckoning: where the forgotten and the familiar meet, where sentiment and neglect sit side by side.
Our lineup of established and emerging artists turns the garage into both a container and a release, a place to face what we’ve tucked away and celebrate what still pulls us back.
While the idea of return circulates throughout the exhibition metaphorically, the curators acknowledge the material reality of return as a political condition. In recognition of ongoing displacement, proceeds from the exhibition will directly support two students in Gaza seeking financial assistance for medical school tuition.
