ambiNYC: Beach Day at Gunnison Beach

(It’s near a pride flag. 😊) Your host: George This is the first of THREE events we’re doing this month, and this time we’re Jersey-bound! (Check out our other events this month: A Day at Coney Island, 7/18 at https://meetu.ps/e/Q7Vbq/vqkZ/i and Wednesday Night After-Work Hang at Pinky Swear, 7/29 at https://meetu.ps/e/Q7Vc2/vqkZ/i) Located on the northern tip of Sandy Hook, NJ, Gunnison Beach is the state's only legal clothing-optional beach, however there is a clothed section as well. Managed by the National Park Service as part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, it features stunning views of the NYC skyline and attracts a diverse, laid-back crowd. If you’re coming from the city: You can take the 10:30am Seastreak Ferry from East 35 Ferry Stop or at 11am from the Battery Maritime Building (same boat). The ferry arrives at Sandy Hook at 11:35am. Round-trip ferry tickets can be purchased for $61 at https://tickets.seastreak.com/reservations. NOTE: In case of bad weather, it’s best to purchase the tickets a few days before, rather than over a week away! If you’re driving: Park in Parking Lot G. Parking fees are $20 per standard vehicle/$50 per oversized vehicle (more than 20 feet)—CASHLESS PAYMENTS ONLY. The walk from the parking lot over the dunes to the water is notably long (about 1/2 mile). Pack light and use a beach cart with wide wheels to make the trek easier over the loose sand. Please note that Sandy Hook prohibits bringing alcoholic beverages onto park grounds.
