✨Welcome to Elif Bet✨ About Elif Bet… 🪞 Every season, the Elif team invites our community members into a cozy space in NYC to hear an early-draft play. The evening begins and ends with a gathering, an opportunity for artists in our community to get to know each other. In the middle, actors from our community will read the play draft for the first time. Join us this month for Sabrina Carlier's "In Her Nature." About the playwright… 🪞 Sabrina Carlier is an actor, director, and theatrical multi-hyphenate. An alum of Atlantic Acting School and ITW Amsterdam, she is in her final semester at NYU Tisch Drama, making the most before graduating this May. Last fall, she wrote In Her Nature, her first full-length play, as a member of the NYU Playwriting in London cohort. In New York, she serves as Associate Artistic Director at both The Elif Collective and NYU’s The American Classics Theatre, where she is making her directorial debut with Annie Baker’s The Antipodes this April. www.sabrinacarlier.com / @sabr1na.c About the play... 🪞 Frequently reduced to a footnote, Vita Sackville-West filled her life with frenzy, fantasy, and flowers. And yet, did she ever find the freedom she hoped for? Born and raised the only child to a tumultuous aristocratic family, Vita found her escape in the greats of literature, full of romance, adventure, and grandeur. As she grew, Vita not only began to write these plots herself but also longed to live them, not just with men but with women too. Always wanting something wild and thrilling but needing something safe where she feels seen, Vita struggles to ever say if it’s enough, whether with Rosamund or Violet or Harold or Virginia. In wanting the unconditional will she lose the very love and life she strives to find? *If your RSVP is not approved for any reason, your Venmo payment will be refunded.
