YSC Goes to the Lunar New Year Parade 2026 🐉✨ Join YSC for a full afternoon and evening celebrating one of San Francisco’s most iconic traditions. 📆 Saturday, March 7, 2026 ♥️ Part A Chinatown Exploration: 1pm, meet at the Cable Car Museum, 1201 Mason St 🎈 Part B Parade Gathering: 4pm, 601 California St Official Parade Start: 5:15pm from 2nd & Market Street 🔴 Part C: Post-Parade Drinks, North Beach 1️⃣ PART A – Chinatown Exploration Meeting Time: 1:00–1:45pm Meeting Location: Cable Car Museum (free entry) 1201 Mason Street (at Washington Street) 🇸🇪 Fun fact: There is even a Swedish Sajo lathe in the Cable Car workshop for an unexpected Scandinavian connection. 🚃 public transit: Chinatown – Rose Pak Muni Metro Station From the museum, we’ll stroll through Chinatown: - Waverly Place is a square, often called the soul of Chinatown, lined with flag-festooned, colorful temple balconies and family-run businesses. - Ross Alley – home of the famous fortune cookie factory 🍜 Along the way, we can choose a restaurant and practice our chopstick skills together. 2️⃣ PART B – Parade Gathering Meet at 4:00 PM On the steps of the office building at 601 California St (corner of Kearny St) Look for the Scandinavian flags. Nearby landmark: 🇸🇪 Banker’s Heart — made of black Swedish granite, another fun Scandinavian connection 🎊 After the final Golden Dragon passes, we’ll follow him to Kearny & Jackson to experience the dramatic firecracker finale. And remember: the goal is to touch the Golden Dragon for maximum good luck in the coming year. Who couldn’t use a little extra luck? 3️⃣ PART C – Post-Parade Drinks After the parade, we can continue the evening at one of North Beach’s classic spots: like Tosca Cafe or Vesuvio Café.
