join us us for a soulful evening to reconnect brought to you by baybayin baby x Miss Barb's. harana night: a baybayin baby workshop hosted at Miss Barb's a night for lovers and friends baybayin workshop + karaoke brought to you by baybayin baby x Miss Barb's thursday, may 28 7-9pm 1038 Nostrand Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11225 tickets $45 USD okay, y'all! this one is gonna be so cute!! it's a baybayin workshop, but make it harana night bring your favourite love songs — the ones that make you feel something, the ones you grew up with, the ones you can’t let go of. we’re going to use them to inspire our baybayin practice. titles, lyrics, or little phrases you want to keep close. and to end the night- optional but highly encouraged karaoke after 👀 ✍🏽 what we’ll do learn the basics of baybayin (beginner-friendly, always) write your favourite song titles + lyrics in baybayin create a piece you can take home (or keep close) be in community to share music and our baybayin practice this is less “classroom” and more practice + play 💌 what’s included guided baybayin workshop + practice mat materials to create your take-home piece a drink and snack box courtesy of miss barb's karaoke after the workshop (if you stay… you should) 💛 who this is for you love love songs (filipino or otherwise) you’ve been wanting to learn baybayin but didn’t know where to start you want a creative, low-pressure way to reconnect to culture you’re down for a slightly chaotic, very cute night with community ✧ what is baybayin? baybayin is an ancient filipino writing system used before spanish colonization learning in a space that does not require your perfection. it’s about starting, practicing, and praticipating in a living writing system. a night for music, memory, and remembering something that already lives in you tara, let’s babiessssss — kat baybayin baby ✧ a few notes spots are limited to keep things intimate so do not sleep! (if you’ve been to one of my workshops… you already know)
