Shadow Work(s) In Progress
The Freedom Fairy presents choreographic works in progress based on the theme of “shadow”.
All the works to be performed are in different stages of completion and will be followed by a short artist talk section where we can connect and I’ll share insight on my creative process and work.
According to psychologist Carl Jung, shadow work is the process of looking at the darker sides of yourself and/or of life to learn lessons for your personal development.
The shadow of yourself/life include the emotions anger, sadness, grief and fear. These are usually not socially acceptable to feel, to display or to even talk about, so many of us cope with the unexpressed and unprocessed feelings by engaging in more risky and dangerous activities often resulting in addictions and/or self-imposed harm.
You can say ignoring the shadows causes more problems than the feelings themselves, which is why the shadow theme is a huge part of my expression as an artist.
I will be sharing personal stories in my pieces that touch on some of the most pivotal scenes in my life leading up to now.
