Come join us for COMMUNION, an experience, a gathering, a ritual, dedicated to deep connection to the Hudson River and each other. COMMUNION is the second sunset ritual by Larissa Belcic and Benedicto Figueroa that aims to highlight the divinity of our waterways (Hudson River), our public land (Morris Canal Park), and all of us who move through them. This unique experience is part spiritual service, installation, scavenger hunt, performance, and ritual.
BIG NEWS
This year we'll be joined by Newark-based Chancleta Death Club -- this duo of Hayley Mojica and Ryan Treppedi are the ambient Latin goth band of your dreams.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN & WHERE
Morris Canal Park will be our sanctuary for this conclave of celebration. A poetic scavenger hunt will ask us to explore and get to know the park in intimate detail. The skyline and it’s twinkling lights will set the stage for our stunning union as we move through a ritual to see us all forever more closely connected to the glorious river. Chancleta Death Club will play us through the sunset and into the night.

HOW TO BE
Please feel welcome to bring blankets, chairs, and snacks and drinks as you wish. (All normal beverage rules for Liberty State Park apply.) The park is generously providing a portable toilet for our comfort.
SCHEDULE
7:00pm: arrival, hang time, picnic (bring your own!)
7:30pm: program start
8:20pm: sunset gathering
8:45-9:30pm: Chancleta Death Club

Presented as part of City of Water Day, COMMUNION serves as a closing to a day dedicated to honoring and preserving the waters that have served us, nurtured us, protected us, and continue to do so. Together we unite our breaths, our voices, and our bodies with that of the pulsing river before us
