Join Bronx Frame and Sunday Soul for a special screening of the award -winning documentary "KEEPER", followed by a panel discussion and honey tasting exploring the relationship between honeybees, wellness, environmental stewardship, and community. The evening will feature members of the film’s creative team alongside representatives from Boogie Down Bronx Honey, Bee U NYC and Bonnie Banks, for a conversation on the ecological importance of honeybees, urban beekeeping, pollinator health, and the role of beekeeping in personal and community wellness. After the panel discussion, Guests will have the opportunity to sample locally sourced Bronx honey, view live Honey Bees in an observation hive, handle beekeeping tools of the trade and crank a honey frame extractor. With over 40 Honey Bee hives throughout The Bronx, Manhattan and Westchester, our mission is to “Protect, Educate and Provide”. Our primary focus is teaching local urban communities how they may support and protect local native pollinators and their critical part in the food chain. We also offer local raw honey and hive products at Farmers Markets and events to sustain our education projects and the continued building of the Northeastern Pollinator Pathway. Bee U NYC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that engages urban communities through hands-on training in beekeeping, leadership, and environmental advocacy, using urban beekeeping as a hook to build pathways for youth into environmental education and green careers. Bonnie Banks is the lead apiarist at 462 Halsey Community Farm in Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn. She has been a beekeeper for over 10 years and a lover of the natural world for a lifetime. Bonnie also owns and operates Honey Puffs Blends, a line of honey enriched brewing & smoking herbs. Bonnie came to beekeeping after being divinely inspired and continues to practice as an act of reverence and ecological commitment.
