FRESCOS GRAND CANTINA is the location! Right off the N/W train xoxo 💋 An all ages, all genders mixer and book swap!
We’ll facilitate mingling activities to help break the ice, followed by the swap, and an hour of unstructured mingling.
This event will be hosted at Fresco’s Cantina and they’ll be extending their happy hour for us. I highly recommend the yuca fries or taquitos though 😋

❓Omg? What’s this mixer?
- An opportunity to connect with neighbors over a shared love of books
- a chance to swap books with neighbors!
❓Do I NEED to participate in the book swap?
- no that’s totally up to you, but we think it will be fun.
❓Can I bring a previously read book or an ARC?
- sure, why not!
- bring books in a condition you would want to receive them in though, so if it’s damaged that’s def not ideal!
❓I have so many books in great condition I want to gift, can I bring them all?
- Bringing a couple extra books is great, thanks. Anything not taken at the end of the night I can collect for the little library or future fundraising raffles we host.
- 20+ books thought? Wow that’s a lot to manage. Maybe let’s set the cap at 10? Thanks!
❓ does my swap book have to be in a particular genre?
- nope!
❓ can we swap more than once?
- for sure! They’re aren’t any hard and fast rules here
❓Do I have to pay to participate?
- No, but we encourage a purchase from our host soace Fresco’s Cantina
❓ do I NEED to rsvp?
- No. Does it help us plan? Yes. So it’d be nice if you could.
❓ can I bring a plus 1?
- the more the merrier! Yes!
- please RSVP “+1” or have them RSVP so we can have a good head count ahead of the event.
- they do need not be an Astorian to attend!
❓What are the planned activities you speak of?
- schedule to be shared ahead of the event. The activities will be vaguely named to remain a bit of a surprise, but the goal of the event is to get people to mingle, connect, and meet new folks— so anticipate that.
