AI IS EVERYWHERE. Can we make sure DC knows how to govern it? We're getting together to spend what is probably the most impactful 30 minutes possible right now: raching out to people you know in New York and get them to vote (or help get votes!) for Alex Bores for Congress in District 12 (Midtown Manhattan, the Upper West Side, and the Upper East Side). Why Alex? - He understands AI safety incredibly deeply (masters in ML, lots of AI safety ppl who have talked to him say good things). - He has shown through his actions and his policy plan that he'll prioritize it: he wrote and fought hard to get the RAISE act passed in NY - If he's elected. he'll be a fierce force for safety in Congress: he passed more bills as a freshman in NY assembly than any freshman ever had and more as a sophomore than any sophomore ever had. The race is neck-and-neck, and, cliche though it is, every vote counts, so much so that yes it's worth making that awkward text. Here's the deal : We crack open laptops, text/call people we know in NY, for 30 min. Then we celebrate all the impact by getting real drunk / fake drunk with friends.
